DRIED FIG

Turkey is the country with the most important gene center of the figs in the world and which ranks first in the world production. World dried fig production is approximately 100,000 tons per year. Our country meets 55-60% of world dried fig production with 55,000-60,000 tons of dried fig production per year. The province of Aydın meets 35,000-40,000 tons of the total production of dried figs in Turkey. Sarılop species of fig, produced intensively in the provinces of Aydın and İzmir, is the species which consists of 98-99% of the dried fig produced in and exported from Turkey. Approximately 58,000 tons of dried figs are produced annually and 45,000 tons are exported and 10,000 tons is consumed domestically. The aflatoxin problem, caused by errors in fig production, harvesting and storage of the figs that is one of the most important export products of our country, is an important issue. In 2012, a large increase in the number of lots returned to Turkey by the EU due to aflatoxin was experienced which led to the decision of the EU countries to increase the inspection of the fig lots from Turkey from 20% to 50%. While the number of lots returned in 2009 was 29, this figure rose to 140 in 2012. This is why drying and storage conditions of dried figs are important for aflatoxin formation. Unfortunately, the dried figs that are returned after failing the European Union health tests are sold in our country. In addition to the production of dried figs, which is an important product for our country, it is also important to harvest, dry and store them maintaining the quality. If drying and storage are not given importance, the quality of the dried figs obtained will be low. Dried figs obtained from the farmers, brokers and the wholesalers are brought to the dried fig processing plants for processing. Unfortunately, all of the processes that are applied to the dried figs are chemical (aluminum phosphite, magnesium phosphite, carbon dioxide gas, aflatoxin, oxygenated water, glucose tubs etc. in gas chambers in order to kill the harmful substances in the dried figs, to sweeten the dried figs and to give a white color to the dried figs.). Dried figs are exposed to all kinds of processing that will put human health at risk. As a result of these processes, darkened dried figs become whiter in color, increase in size, prevent its deterioration and extend the storage time, but seriously harm our people.

MILONAS dried figs are left for three days (72 hours) at -45 °C without any chemical treatment, so the harmful substances in the dried fig become ineffective. MILONAS dried figs, which are not exposed to any chemical treatment, are offered to you without losing their naturalness.

We have never made any compromises from our mission and vision on this journey with our motto "We grow and produce for healthy generations" and will never do.
